Black History Resources
After the death of George Floyd on May 25, 2020, at the hands of Officer Derek Chauvin, resources were needed in order to facilitate discussions of race with students in different school subjects. The following resources were compiled from teachers at the school I was working at during the first week in June 2020. May we all take the time to learn, understand, and take action in solidarity for social justice.
"Dr. Carter G. Woodson (1875-1950), African American writer and historian, and father of Black History Month (which started in 1915), "If a race has no history, it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought of the world, and it stands in danger of being exterminated."
